Our Town Grants

This workshop will help creatives and nonprofit leaders use numbers in grant applications and outcome reports.

Explore the challenges and rewards of finding and using figures; discover outcome reports and results; use surveys to build your own database; and put those numbers into your grant writing in a way that garners attention and meets federal grant requirements. Find out how to use qualitative data to capture data from stories and weave numbers into these stories.

In this workshop, creatives learn the power and impact of numbers and how to include them. This workshop will go over visualizing theories of changes, where to find useful numbers, and how to put those numbers to use in a way that elevates grant applications.

This workshop is made possible by a partnership with Ohio University.

Dr. Allison L. Ricket leads the Impact Measurement team at the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service at Ohio University. Ricket works with social enterprises, impact investors, nonprofits, foundations, and impact funds to measure and maximize their social, environmental, and economic impact. She co-leads a team to conduct Social Return on Investment (SROI) analyses for enterprise clients including Rural Action; Habitat for Humanity; and Franklin County and City of Columbus $10M Small Business Recovery Fund, a project measuring impacts to small businesses in central Ohio. Dr. Ricket advises national organizations and federal policymakers on impact measurement and leads the Body of Knowledge advocacy effort with Social Value US.

Dr. Ricket researches asset-based and strengths-based approaches to rural community building; social entrepreneurial ecosystems; approaches to lean impact data, systems thinking, and holistic approaches to community well-being, with an emphasis on measures that reinforce and strengthen healthy community ecosystems. Ricket has an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Ohio University, an M.A. in Holistic Education from Ohio State University, and a B.A. from Ohio Dominican. Dr. Ricket was the first person in the United States to achieve the highest accreditation for impact measurement and management: the Level 3 Advanced Practitioner status from Social Value International, the global standard setter for measuring and managing social impact.
